Here's the link to a source document with details about CoP

      http://bit.ly/2jNYdNq

The Ontario Hospital Association is holding a course about Community of Practice. All you need is $515

OHA: What is a Community of Practice (CoP)?

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do, actively learning how to do it better as they interact regularly. CoPs are promoted in the health care sector as a mechanism/network to generate and share knowledge while improving organizational performance. Evidence and experience is showing that a CoP can be extremely effective for clinical collaboration - but, what separates thriving from struggling communities?

What are the Benefits of a CoP?

      User benefits

      • Provides access to new knowledge

      • Fosters trust and a sense of common purpose

      • Adds value to professional lives

      • Allows opportunity for consultation and networking with peers

      Organizational benefits

      • Enables clinical partners and employees to manage change

      • Generates knowledge and encourages skill development

      • Uses knowledge management to drive strategy

      • Disseminates valuable information and transference of best practices

      • Facilitates rapid responses to user needs and problems

In-Person Conference and Live Webcast Event

This program is designed for all health care organizations and associations interested in creating or growing a CoP for clinical collaboration.

      Program Highlights

      • Creating connections: A new toolkit for building a CoP by understanding your community needs first

      • A CoP framework and national implementation/applications

      • Community management 101

Thanks Annette. OHA offers a multitude of learning opportunities for patients and families but the costs make it very difficult to participate. I have brought this to their attention on many occasions but al I get is a shrug. Not very inclusive, if you ask me.

I was on a social media panel once for the OHA and in return they invited 2 of us to a conference about Patient Experience, Patient Education and Patient Relations. They have professionalized all of those terms.

They had great charts showing resolution rates for Patient relations - they could be much rosier looking than they are in reality, based on my experiences.

Lately I spoke, as part of Patients For Patient Safety, at a Patient Safety conference they did. As a newer member I did not realize that the promised honorarium went into the CPSI pot.

That's the only access I have had to their events, though I have been able to sign up for a webinar here and there using my credentials as a Hospital volunteer.
