      Are you passionate about improving health and healthcare? If you are right for this opportunity and you love to learn from and collaborate with others, consider joining the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI), a federally funded not-for-profit organization, based in Ottawa, that identifies proven innovations and accelerates their spread across Canada by supporting healthcare organizations adapt, implement and measure improvements in patient care, population health, and value-for-money.

      CFHI is seeking a part-time (2.5 days per week) Patient Partner on contract to complement its existing team of dynamic staff and network.

      Reporting to the Director, Patient and Citizen Engagement, the Patient Partner will curate, adapt and/or develop resources to support training and patient engagement efforts across CFHI and will provide oversight for the evaluation of patient engagement training. The Patient Partner will act as an advisor, mentor and coach to CFHI staff by bringing their first-hand experience and expertise of the health system to help inform patient partnerships. The Patient Partner will develop processes and guidance documents to support consistency of engagement efforts across CFHI.

      The Patient Partner will bring their experience as a patient advisor from other healthcare settings to work within CFHI:
      • Provide a patient perspective on the programs/activities conducted by CFHI.
      • Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of patient engagement training for CFHI staff including the development and/or adaptation of resources and curriculum.
      • Act as a resource and coach for teams (including patients/families) across CFHI to embed patient engagement activities in the design, implementation and evaluation of activities and programs, aligning with principles of engagement.
      • Keep the patient in mind in the CFHI activities as your experience is relied upon to strengthen CFHI's programming.
      • Learn from and collaborate with the CFHI team - they are our and your greatest asset and consist of the best and the brightest professionals.
      • Contribute to continuous quality improvement and to strengthening our workplace culture by being engaged, positive, helpful and energized in your work.
      • Help CFHI make change happen for healthcare improvement.

      If you have the experience and skills we need for this important role, we want to hear from you.
      • A patient or caregiver with strong lived experience in interacting with health care providers and the health system.
      • Demonstrated experience as a patient or caregiver who has actively been a patient/family advisor/partner, engaged at a direct level of care with providers, as well as within healthcare and health organizations/governments at a local and regional/provincial/national levels.
      • Experience with co-designing initiatives with a broad range of team members in a collaborative, respectful manner.
      • Well-versed in the field of patient and family engagement, with knowledge of notable practices for effective and meaningful partnerships.
      • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
      • Excellent English and French communication skills are essential.
      • Outstanding interpersonal skills including energy and positive attitude to interact with our team members as well as with external stakeholders.
