This is a short 5 question survey on developing training for patient oriented research.

      https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_00BmMUntSbE12Hb

Western U isdeveloping a training program focused on patient engagement in primary health care research.

Western U has developed the attached survey to gather information that will help them create the program.

Attached is a [Letter of Information (LOI) about the study and the survey](http://patientadvisors.groupsite.com/file_cabinet/files/890162/download/LetterofInformation - Western U.docx?m=1510257067 "Letter of Information"). Please review the LOI before completing the Qualtrics survey. Your participation is voluntary. If you wish to obtain more information please contact Amanda or Rob Van Hoorn, Project Coordinator, to discuss this request at aterry4@uwo.ca / 519-661-2111 ext. 20049 or rvanhoo@uwo.ca / 519-661-2111 ext. 20089.

There are at least 3 courses on this same subject already in existence in Ontario.

        • The SPOR Master Class

        • CIHR SPOR Training

        • PiR Training from Li Ka Shing

I have taken all three and they are variations on a theme. I'm personally not sure it is worthwhile having yet another training but would welcome thoughts on this. Alies

I to have taken them all as well as the PaCER course. If they do their course better and differently it might be valuable, but there are quite a few people spending a lot of money developing courses.

Maybe they think that taking a course is the equivalent of developing caacity. I think they should spend the money on drawing atiets in to a research day and carefully choosing their topics and activities. That would go better if people were not 'streamed' into a segment but could choose based on their level of knowledge. It's often a good idea to push particpants to sit with people they don't know

What I should have said on the survey (I did it already) was that they should have a section on Primary Care Health Research to give the attendees background on their area, and how it may or may not be different.
