Please participate to help advance a seamless patient experience for cancer patients

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (the Partnership) is leading an initiative to create a seamless experience for the pre-diagnosis phase (from suspicion to diagnosis) of the individual's cancer experience.

To advance this work, we are convening a patient-focused consultation session on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 in Toronto. The purpose of this meeting is to bring together a variety of perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of healthcare system gaps and leading interventions for the pre-diagnosis phase (from suspicion to diagnosis) of an individual's cancer experience.

The Partnership will engage health sector leaders and individuals with a cancer experience from across Canada to identify system gaps and explore the development and implementation of leading interventions to support a more seamless patient experience for the pre-diagnosis phase. The goal is to the reduce the amount of time, inconvenience, and anxiety involved for individuals, irrespective of whether they are asymptomatic or symptomatic, by simplifying and consolidating the pre-diagnosis process and by ensuring the appropriateness of testing.

This dialogue will surface key issues and complexities faced by individuals as they move through the healthcare system leading to a cancer diagnosis. Based on the meeting discussions, our goal is to leverage partnerships and facilitate conversations with provincial programs/ leadership, with input from patients and family advisors, to explore future funding opportunities that implement mechanisms and/or processes to create a seamless pre-diagnosis experience.

If you are a patient with a recent experience with the pre-diagnosis stage of cancer (within the last year), we welcome your participation and reply by Wednesday, January 24th, 2018.

The Partnership will provide funding for participants' travel and accommodation according to our Travel Policies.

Please contact me if you are interested in participating, or have any questions.

      Thanks,
