Patient Ombudsman: Patient and Caregiver Feedback Group

Deadline for applications: Friday August 10th, 2018

      What is the opportunity?

The Patient Ombudsman supports fairness in Ontario's healthcare system. We act as an office of last resort by providing a compassionate ear for patients or caregivers who have complaints about a healthcare experience.

We are looking for 10-12 patient and caregiver partners who will review some of our public facing materials and give us their feedback on ways we can improve.

Our job is to resolve complaints as quickly and compassionately as possible. Some of our complaints lead to investigations. Some of those investigations lead to formal recommendations on ways to improve the healthcare system so that no other Ontarians will have to go through a similar experience.

We recognize that it takes courage to make a health related complaint. It is important for the Patient Ombudsman to make the complaint process as easy as possible, and that includes the information and forms we prepare for the public.

What is the Patient Ombudsman: Patient and Caregiver Feedback group?

The Patient Ombudsman: Patient and Caregiver Feedback Group will meet
1 to 2 times to review and provide feedback on:

      • The Patient Ombudsman print brochure
      • The Patient Ombudsman complaint form
      • The Patient Ombudsman consent forms
      • Your opinions on what should be included in a service charter

Time Commitment: 1-2 teleconference-based meetings of approximately 2 hours.

In addition, there is the possibility of one in-person meeting later this year.

      Location:

      a. Initial meeting will be phone or webinar.

      b. In-person meeting will take place in downtown Toronto. Patient Ombudsman will cover the travel costs. Note: This meeting is yet to be confirmed.

      How you can help:

We want your feedback on our public facing materials to:

      • Make sure they are easy to read and understand
      • Get your recommendations on how we can improve our messaging

      TO APPLY:

Please send us a short statement of interest (2-3 sentences) explaining why you would like to participate:

Jason Oliver, Senior Communications Specialist, Patient Ombudsman
