      HSO is currently seeking up to four patient/family partners for each of the following Standards Development co-design groups (a.k.a "Technical Committees"):

      1. Perinatal Health - includes pre-, during, and after-birth care (orientation will occur Jan. 21, 2019);
      2. Emergency Management - includes disaster preparedness (orientation in Jan. 2019);
      3. Acute and Surgical Care (orientation in Feb. 2019);
      4. Cultural Safety and Humility (recruitment of patient/family partners who identify as indigenous via PVN in BC), Indigenous Health needs 1 more member from outside BC (recruitment via HSO);
      5. Medication Management needs 1 more patient/family member, and associated Anti-Microbial Stewardship working group needs 1 more patient partner; and
      6. Diagnostic Imaging (half-way through standard development process) is also looking to fill 1 vacancy.

      Descriptions for each of the above topics/areas can be found here: https://healthstandards.org/standards/technical-committees/recruitment/

      The membership term for committees is 2 years with the possibility of renewal. There are typically 2 x 1.5-hour orientation sessions conducted via teleconference call. Members are required to attend both orientation sessions. During standards development, there may be an average of 4-6 meetings held for the year. The first meeting is generally held in person in Ottawa and the remaining meetings take place via teleconference calls. The periods of active engagement are variable across months and will require approximately 8-15 hours of effort per month (some months are busier than others). This includes pre-reading, drafting content, reviewing and commenting on documents, voting, engaging external stakeholders, and taking part in meetings.

      If you are interested in being a member of any of these committees/working groups, or would like to have more information about becoming an HSO patient/family partner, please contact Hélène Campbell Helene.Campbell@healthstandards.org or apply directly to:
