Will Falk and Zayna Khayat are co-teaching a course again at the Rotman School in January. I am doing the Opening guest lecture for the course, providing a candid patient/user perspective on health innovation.

This time it runs for 13 weeks. They would love to invite PAN members to be part of the course in 2 ways:

      1. Participate in any of our lectures as an observer, drop-in, discussant. Engage in the discussion, add ideas, learn from others. Unpaid as it is a learning exchange opportunity. Lectures are every Wednesday 7-9 am at Rotman School. Could also join virtually via Zoom or something similar. Here is the outline of topics for each week, and other info https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WuCmWXPFOoWM9NBXSc2wHadzfFsKiFWH

      3. Participate on our "Dolphin tank" (a nicer version of Shark Tank) ... On April 10th to give critical feedback to the 6 student teams on their pitches. 7-9 am. Virtual or in person.

They will be happy to share more if you have questions!
Please let me know if you may be interested or available. Last year 2 PAN members attended. It is held darn early in the morning. I think the course is aimed at Master's level students.

        hi Annette

I'm interested in attending this course. Do you know any of the following info, or shall I email the instructors to ask:

Q1) What date does it start?

Q2) What room is it in? (the school seems to be at 105 St George St which is 381 m from the St George subway stop - it's part of U of T)

Q3) How do we sign up?

Q4) How can we get the list of topics week by week? It looks like they are posted on some sort of student site.

FYI - I checked, and the TTC apparently runs early enough to get me there for 7 am from Etobicoke .... the TTC planner suggested I get on a bus at 5:42 am! ahhhhhh!

          Hi Nancy

It starts Jan 23rd, and the building it's in is on St George.

I don't have the week by week outline, just what the link goes to. The course has an extensive reading list. Two of the main books are:

The Patient Will See You Now by Eric Topol - Chapters 1-4 and 10-15

The Innovator's Dilemma by Clay Sharkey

The course instructor is away until the 7th but here's a link to a list af articles about the Future of Health she has collected

Thanks to all for your interest. There are 3 PAN members signed up now. Nancy, Samira and Dia . The instructor has said to stop at 3 - she is worried about seating since it is a class of 40.

              An invitation will be emailed.

Maybe we can keep the thread going if the attendees can give us some pearls that they learn. I am still not seeing effects of innovation in health care in my life, unless you count my 6 portals, and the fact that my Dr can actually see lab results from all over, not just the hospital.

              Annette
