We need your help!

The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is looking for patients to share their hospital care experiences for a public digital report, which is scheduled to be released in April 2019. If you are interested in sharing your experiences, please contact prems@cihi.ca by Feb 15, 2019.

What is the report about?

This report will demonstrate the richness of patient experience data collected through CIHI’s Canadian Patient Experiences Survey – Inpatient Care and how it has been used by hospitals for quality of care and to improve patient care experiences. In particular, the report will focus on how communications within the hospital and information sharing can impact the patient experience across multiple touchpoints throughout a patient’s hospital stay, a first in Canada.

Who can participate?

We would like to include patients in our report to:

· support featured data findings and to demonstrate the people behind the numbers

· gain additional context and understanding of a patient's experience when they receive health care in a hospital setting, and

· help confirm relevant themes highlighted in the product to ensure we are focusing on what is most important to patients

Patient Criteria:

· 18 years or older at the time of admission

· In the past year, had an overnight stay in hospital

· Available by phone or in-person for interviews between February 13 to February 22, 2019

· Comfortable with their name and image being shared

As a next step, individuals selected based on the criteria above will receive an email from CIHI (prems@cihi.ca) formally inviting them to participate in an initial call to assess interest and fit.

Expected Commitment

Selected patients will be interviewed by phone or in-person between February 13 – 22, 2019. It is anticipated that interviews will be 1 hour long and if required, could include a brief follow-up.

Compensation

Individuals selected will be provided any travel and/or transportation costs incurred. A nominal amount may be provided in accordance with CIHI’s honorarium policy.
