Just in case anyone from Ontario is interested I got this email :

Clinical Trials Ontario (CTO) Patient and Public Engagement work is informed by a Patient and Public Advisory Group (P2AG). We formed this Group nearly two years ago and are currently seeking additional members. More information can be found about the P2AG, expectations associated with being part of the group, and the process to express interest in it at this link: http://www.ctontario.ca/cms/media/CTO-P2AG-Membership-Call-Feb2019.pdf.

Feel free to distribute this within your own networks to individuals who might be interested.

You sound really knowledgeable in these areas already. I could eIntroduce you to Dawn Richards of CTO, who is herself a patient and an advisor, or you could email her through the link in my posting.

I went to their conference the last 2 years - some of the speakers have been great and it is possible to get a scholarship to it too.

I read a BMJ blog post just an hour ago about patients in clinical trials. It was called Patient engagement: What's the Return on Investment?

        Lots of issues here.

Hello Annette. I would be interested in the Clinical Trials In Ontario group. I am the clinical Trials PFA at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. I am the PFA on the Ontario Steering Committee for Cancer Drug approvals. I am a PFA research reviewer for many healthcare groups: MOH, HQO, CCO, CQCO, CPSI. As well, I worked as part of an aquatic toxicology research team for 8 years. I would like to learn more about your group.

i am a member of the Clinical Trials Ontario Patient and Public Advisory Group & I really enjoy it. It’s very interesting work, and is one of the most authentic patient engagement groups I have participated in.

Thanks Gail and Annette. It would be great to meet with you in person and chat. I’ve never heard of the Clinical Trials Ontario PPA group. Sounds ideal. I did talk about my experience in Clinical Trials at CCOs Reasearch Day last year. What Conference are you referring to Annette? How do I find out it’s details?

It would be great to meet. I am planning to go to the training day in the following statement. I plan to post this in opportunities also. I hope that's not too much repetition. for the group. : )

"you can see more about the conference and speakers here: https://ctoconference.ca. Two things here: we are looking in to either live streaming or at least taping 1-2 sessions that can be publicly viewed and we are looking in to how we can be able to support potential patients to attend the conference. I'm hoping to update you on those items in the next couple of weeks.

                · we're hosting a workshop (free) the day before the conference about Improving Clinical Trials Through Patient-Oriented Research - and more information about that is here: https://ctoconference.ca/improving-clinical-trials-through-patient-oriented-research/. The workshop will introduce tools that we have created over the past year with patients, researchers and clinicians through a CIHR-funded grant"

                Annette
