      Dear members of PAN,
Sorry for the last minute message(the livestream link was just finalized) but I did want to share this information with our PAN membership.

CFHI is hosting, together with a number of partners, a "Diversity in Patient Engagement Learning Exchange" on Tuesday March 5, 2019 where we will be showcasing the work of six organizations from across Canada who have engaged with diverse patient and community populations to support improvements in care, service delivery, and system level change, and learn together the strategies, methods, challenges, and opportunities noted through their efforts. We look forward to welcoming 25 patient and community members from across Canada who will be participating in the day.
This is a "By Invitation" Learning Exchange. We are pleased to offer a livestreaming invitation to PAN members. The following sessions are available by livestream:

8:30 am-9:00 am Welcome and Introductions

9:00 am - 9:30 am Review of Terminology and Literature (CPAC- Canadian Partnership Against Cancer)

9:30 am - 10:15 am Case Studies: Cancer Care Ontario and Rainbow Health, The Equity in Engagement Framework. INESS, Developing a Critical Practice Guideline for Empowerment for Young People Between 6 to 21 Years of Age with Intellectual Disabilities.

11:15 am - 12:00 pm Case Studies: Saskatchewan Health Authority, Adult Addictions Advisory Committee. Parkland Alberta, Youth Mental Health Coalition.

        Thanks, Angela!

This looks wonderful. I'm swamped with commitments on Tuesday morning, but will try to tune into the streaming between my gigs.

Is this being recorded?? How great that would be!

Many of us are so busy, it's a bit difficult to fit in anything more, even with ample notice. But when time becomes available, I'm always eager to listen to presentations like these!

Expanding how we engage patients, carers and system users everywhere in healthcare is how we will build a true reflection of inclusive priorities for our health services system --and a stronger feeling of community in our society.

A healthy place is one where we feel connected and understood, free to make decisions that are best for ourselves and our communities, and supported in pursuing the best life we can.

Learning how to do this well is in all our interests as Canadians!

        Cheers, Carolyn

Thanks Carolyn. The sessions are being recorded and I will be sure to share the link with the PAN members after the event. I like having the option of watching when it fits my schedule as I too find it challenging to find the time to view everything I would like to view.

Ideally this invitation would have been shared more broadly earlier for sure. Unfortunately that did not happen in this case due to some logistical considerations.

The planning of this day has already yielded some great patient participant feedback. We have lots to learn about creating safe and welcoming spaces and opportunities for diverse perspectives to be heard.

Hoping this day of learning will lead to future opportunities to bring more projects and voices into the conversation! I know one day is just a drop in the ocean but hoping it creates a ripple.

Unfortunately, I still can not attach an external file. If anyone is interested in seeing the agenda, let me know (angela.morin@cfhi-fcass.ca) and I will email it to you.

          Sincerely,

          Angela
