Are you a Patient and/or Family Member hoping to attend the #ChildHealthCan2019 Conference in December? Apply for funding through our Patient and Family Grant. Learn more: http://bit.ly/2zj0jOJ

      In Ottawa, and Patients Included

As per the Patients Included charter, Children's Healthcare Canada will offer a Patient and Family Grant to pay for the travel, accommodation and registration for patient and family members in full so that they may participate in the 2019 Children's Healthcare Canada Annual Conference. These award recipients will be selected based on their ability to contribute to the program, support other aspects of the event or attend and benefit from the event. Travel expenses will be paid in advance, and accommodation costs covered in full on site, with no costs being incurred by these patient and family attendees.

I have attended their conferences in the past. Up until last year, the organization was known as Canadian Association for Paediatric Health Centres. They have since broadened their mandate to widen their scope beyond just paediatric hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Highly recommend! I sure wish there was an equivalent for the geriatrics world, where policy makers, caregiver volunteers, clinicians and hospital administration would come together to learn and share.

I'm with you on the Geriatric side. That would be great. I asked my geriatrician friend in the hopes there was one we didn't know about and here's her answer:

"Unfortunately there isn't a similar meeting for geriatrics. The Canadian geriatrics society hasn't had a great track record in engaging patients and caregivers. My friends are helping to organize the next meeting in Calgary so I will find out if this is something they have prioritized."

Good idea, and a push doesn't hurt.
