      HSO has asked that we post this opportunity.

      Dear Patient Partners,

      St. Boniface Hospital and Health Standards Organization (HSO) are partnering to co-launch the Enhanced Needs Assessment for Compassion Cultivation in Canadian Healthcare and Social Services - a Needs Assessment aiming to gain a better understanding of the essential elements needed for compassion to flourish personally, interpersonally and organizationally across the Canadian health and social services.

      The goal of this project is to hear the perspectives of those directly involved with, are interested in, or are affected by compassion in care and service delivery settings. Together, both organizations are working with people and communities across Canada to better understand perceptions, needs, experiences, and gaps with respect to compassion in health and social services.

      To do so, we are targeting four main stakeholder groups:

      • Persons with lived experience who participate in, and benefit from health services, as co-producers of health (depending on one's experience, individuals may be patients, clients, long-term care residents and/or their carers and families);

      • Health and social service administrators and leaders;

      • Care and service providers; and,

      • Individuals with a general and/or academic interest in the field of compassion.

      This process will lead to a report on the findings, which will include recommended strategies for the development of evidence-informed standards (e.g., an HSO National Standard of Canada), practices, and/or programs to cultivate compassion within individuals, between individuals, and organization-wide in Canadian health and social services settings.

      HSO is reaching out to you today to ask for your help in contributing to this initiative by providing your experiences and perspectives by either:

      • Taking part in a video or phone interview with HSO, or

      • Completing an online survey.

      A cover letter outlines the project rationale and methodology in more detail for your review. If after reviewing the project cover letter you wish to participate, please --

      CONTACT Hélène Campbell, specifying which of the above you would like to take part in (interview or survey) at Helene.campbell@healthstandards.org by Friday, June 26.

          There appears to be a bug in the system regarding uploading docs. I will send this to you under separate cover, Denyse. I will do the same for anyone wanting it. Alies
