Many of us began our activism after an experience of harm in our own care or that of a family member. Often, it is not so much the initial impact that is so devastating, but the way we were treated afterwards. We may feel invisible, closed out of discussion with those we trusted, and instead left on our own to recover. Being thus abandoned can be devastating.

PAN member and outstanding patient leader Allison Kooijman is moderating this timely webinar with outstanding panelists from Canada, the United States and New Zealand. The event is hosted by the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and Patients for Patient Safety Canada.

Reimagining healing after healthcare harm: the potential for restorative practices

      Tuesday August 4 _th_12 pm PDT / 1 pm MDT / 3 pm EDT (90 minutes)

As patients and families impacted by harm, we imagine progressive approaches in responding to patient safety incidents – focused on restoring health and repairing trust.

We can change how we respond to healthcare harm by shifting the focus away from what happened, towards who has been affected and in what way. This is your opportunity to hear about innovative approaches in Canada, New Zealand, and the United States that appreciate these human impacts.

This interactive webinar is hosted by Patients for Patient Safety Canada, the patient-led program of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and the Canadian arm of the World Health Organization Patients for Patient Safety Global Network.
