      The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is recruiting focus group participants-

      The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) is interested in thoughts and opinions from patients and physicians about their virtual care experiences to inform the project Mind the Gap: Addressing the educational gap for virtual care competencies.

      Background

      With funding from Associated Medical Services (AMS) healthcare, this project is designed to develop an open-source learning resource to help physicians - particularly those new to the Canadian healthcare system - navigate and provide compassionate virtual care. We aim to identify gaps between the stated competencies of providing care virtually in Canada that have already been identified and what physicians are actually experiencing to inform the creation of the learning resource. As part of this gap analysis, we will carry out focus groups with several participant groups including:

      · Patients who have recently experienced care virtually from a family physician;

      · Physicians who are international medical graduates (IMGs) and recent graduates of Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) programs in Canada or Canadian Family Medicine residency programs;

      · Canadian-trained physicians who are recent graduates of Canadian Family Medicine residency programs; and

      · Assessors for Practice-Ready Assessment (PRA) programs in Canada.

      How can I participate?

      We invite patients to participate in a 90-minute, online focus group of 6-8 other participants, led by a qualified researcher, to occur in February/ March 2021. Each group will explore experiences of virtual care and compassionate care from their unique perspective.

      Participants will receive an honorarium of $50 for their time.

      To join the focus group kindly complete this brief Participant Information Survey or for more information email focusgroup@mcc.ca.
