I was thrilled to see the enrolment link become available for the CANVAS COVID-19 survey. It is a simple online form to fill in, and hands-on way to contribute to the research on safety and effectiveness of the currently available vaccines.

As a member of a patient population (primary immune deficiency) which was not included in the clinical trials for vaccine approval, there is currently no data indicating either the effectiveness of safety for us or for those with other immune-system diseases. The results of this study will help discussions with our doctors about vaccination options.

Data is collected from people both before and after vaccination.

Please consider signing up, and also circulating the link. It is Canada-wide and I hope the results will bring good news to us all!

Thx for this reminder, Susan. All patients with any primary immune deficiency should speak to their applicable physicians directly about their eligibilty for the current crop of covid19 vaccines available.

I’m involved with research in this area with Canadian Donation Transplant Research Program. As a liver recipient I also fall into the patient population (primary immune deficiency).
We will be doing research on transplant recipients who get the vaccine. As Susan said there is no evidence just expert opinion if this vaccine is safe for those of us who are immune compromised.

            Hi Sandra,
Have you seen these opportunities to participate in clinical research studies:

Of the Moderna vaccine with people who are immunocompromised, have HIV or have had a solid organ transplant? https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04805125

Also, here is another Moderna vaccine clinical study opportunity to participate for people with autoimmune illnesses, RA and SLE: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04806113

            Best,
            ...Susan
