      It's back!

      https://events.cma.ca/website/23704/eng/home/

It looks a little different this year; it will be a virtual event and we're going to divide it up into three different sessions (2.5 hr/each), each across different dates.

      • May 18: Canada's universal health care system: myth or reality?
      • June 17: Lessons learned form COVID-19: How do we close Canada's health gap?
      • August 22: Thriving in a reimagined culture of medicine: What does it mean to be healthy?

Just like previous years there are spots reserved for people with lived experience for each session.
      Patients Included info here https://events.cma.ca/website/23704/patients-included/

Right now registration is only open for the May session (they'll be doing it one session at a time).
If you're interested they recommend signing up soon because spots are filling up quickly!

Not just going fast - at this point all you can do is get put on the waitlist.

However since it's virtual, maybe they'll up the audience size.

Hi Annette, thanks for the information. I think it's worth putting your name on the waiting list as some people inevitably opt out closer to the date for various reasons. Registration for the next session of June 17th opens on May 20th - I suggest that those who want to attend may even want to burn the midnight oil and register just after midnight on May 20th (if possible).

            Hi Annette and Mary Anne
thanks for the heads up for the registration date on session 2. Another reason to put your name on the waiting list for the first session , is that it tells CMA how much interest there is from the patient community!

I am registered for the May 20th session, I am a member of their patient advocate group, and may have got advance notice.

Does anyone know whether the session was recorded and where and when this could be accessed?

I just signed up for the next date today. I had a note on my calendar too check, and I used the link in the first post of this thread.

Lessons learned from COVID-19: How do we close Canada’s health gap?

                  June 17, 6:00–8:30 pm ET

In this virtual session, keynote speaker Dr. Jane Philpott will discuss the extent to which COVID-19 has magnified health inequities for many people living in Canada and exacerbated challenges that existed before the pandemic.

She will be joined by Dr. Naheed Dosani and patient advocate Nicole Nickerson for a panel discussion on how to learn from pandemic experiences and effectively recover with a commitment to health equity.

The panel will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, moderated by journalist Althia Raj, and a series of small, 40-minute breakout sessions where participants will brainstorm on actions.

These ideas and insights will help inform the CMA’s future work.
