Health Standards Organization is a global standards development organization that collaboratively develops standards that facilitate better outcomes for all in healthcare settings around the world. We partner with people with lived experience in the development of standards and are looking for your help in the following ways.

Public Reviews

Cannabis Use in Health and Social Service Settings

We are developing a standard that aims to provide knowledge to care providers in the environment of legalized cannabis, as well as guidance to navigate situations in which cannabis must be accounted for in a treatment plan. The draft standard is out for public review for a few more days, until November 15.

Mental Health & Addiction

We are developing a national standard of Canada for acute mental health services, community-based mental health services, and addictions services (substance use and problem gambling). The draft standard is out for public review until January 4, 2022.

Technical Committees (TC)

Virtual Health

The Technology-Enabled Health Technical Committee develops standards and assesses leading practices focused on the importance of technology in the delivery of health services through facilitating communication, information transfer and education. Technologies include telehealth, telemedicine, electronic medical records and electronic health records, and the governance of health information within and across organizations.

If you have virtual health experience and would like to contribute to the co-design of this standard, apply to the Technology-Enabled Health Technical Committee. Applications accepted until December 10. Read more about Technical Committees.

Correctional Health Services

The Correctional Health Services Technical Committee will oversee the co-design and development of a national standard for Correctional Services Canada (CSC) Healthcare Services. The TC will provide clear, standardized, evidence-informed practices that enable the delivery of care and services that are mindful and purposeful for all current offenders requiring health care services through CSC.
