I contacted the organizers and they would welcome patient partners to the focus group. It will be somewhat technical but that should not scare us away. Sometimes people and their priorities get lost when the discussions are by technologists and about technology. We must not lose sight of the fact that technology is there to serve people. Cyber attacks can jeopardize people and people's health as we saw when the Newfoundland system was attacked and took days to recover.

The CIO Strategy Council, another SCC accredited Standards Development Organization, are partnering with HealthCareCAN to develop a new set of National Standards of Canada to support cyber resiliency in Canada’s healthcare system and help address growing cybersecurity threats in the healthcare field.

Iinvitation to a series of focused discussion groups that they are hosting on the topic. Input and discussion will occur through two virtual focus group sessions to be held March 9-10, 2022 and will provide healthcare perspective on cybersecurity issues and challenges.

Specifically, the CIO Strategy Council is looking for participation from Chief Information Officers (CIOs), Chief Information and Security Officers (CISOs), and cybersecurity practitioners at Canadian healthcare institutions. They are also interested in having patient partners participate.

Anyone interested in participating can register directly at the link provided below or follow up at the highlighted email address for more information.
