See email below from Dana Arafeh

      Hi Everyone,

We are launching our first patient family advisory committee at the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. We hope that patient partners will support quality improvement and family medicine education and training activities. Does anyone have experience or know of someone who has experience engaging patient partners in family medicine education or any other type of post-graduate medical education? If so, please reach out to dana.arafeh@utoronto.ca as I would love to meet with you to hear about and learn from your experience.

Patient family advisory committees sound like a good idea. I would be interested in chatting about this further. UofT DFCM pioneered the development of patient partners in teaching medical students decades ago which has become a mainstay of medical teaching through the existing 'standardized patient' programme also at UofT. DFCMs across many medical universities have participated in a number of SPOR (Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research research) projects recently as well as within a number of existing research units associated with the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN).
        kind regards
