Healthcare Excellence Canada is seeking patient partners to participate in a focus group to provide input into HEC’s newly drafted Engagement Framework and recognition guidance.

HEC is seeking experience and expertise from patient partners within the HEC community to consult on the creation of a new HEC Engagement Framework and recognition guidance.

How can you participate?

• Patient partners are invited to participate in one 90-minute focus group. Focus groups will be hosted on two dates, one of which will be held with Simultaneous Interpretation (EN to FR). HEC anticipates approximately 30 minutes of preparation time - in advance of the focus group.
• To ensure each focus group has enough participants to generate a fulsome discussion, six to ten participants will be selected to join each of the two focus group sessions.

• The deadline to submit the application is July 25, 2022, and HEC commits to responding to all applicants by July 29, 2022.

Who can participate?

HEC welcomes the diverse perspectives of patients, family, and essential care partners who have been recognized for their work as patient advisors/partners in many different ways, including compensation. To prepare for the focus group, HEC encourages participants to become familiar with the IAP2 spectrum of participation.

For this consultative engagement, a $50.00 honorarium will be offered to recognize your contributions to the focus group session which you may choose to accept or decline.

HEC invites all interested individuals to apply and encourages applications from people with disabilities, Indigenous, Black, and racialized individuals, as well as people from a diversity of ethnic and cultural origins, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions. HEC will endeavour to have pan-Canadian representation, diversity of perspectives, and breadth of experience with varying forms of patient recognition, including compensation within each focus group.
