Governments and public bodies routinely collect information about people using public services, for example, when someone visits a doctor, has surgery, or fills a prescription. This information—also called administrative health data—can be a powerful tool to study and better understand patient needs and how well health services are meeting them. Yet, once collected, these data are often disconnected from the patient experience.
