Nov 17 and 18th in Toronto at Sick Kids Hospital

      http://www.patientsafetyinstitute.ca/en/education/PatientSafetyEducationProgram/Pages/PSEP-Toronto-2017-11.aspx

This session is intended for Patient and Family members currently supporting healthcare organizations with Patient and Family Engagement initiatives. Patient and Family members will learn about patient safety content and how to teach to advance patient safety knowledge.

This is only the 2nd time this course has been offered to patients. The first time was at the instigation and expense of Holland Bloorview.

If you worked in a hospital it would be worth 6.5 Category II credits towards your Maintenance of certification requirement for the Canadian College of Health Leaders (and it would cost $1250)

      The patient fee is $899

I would really like to see them offer at least some scholarships to cover registration/travel for patients. Also, if they would be able to offer this at locations across the Country so it would be more accessible for those that don't live in Ontario. There are so few opportunities for actual training it's a shame they haven't made some allowance for the scholarships.

I suggested scholarships, and they might yet do something. So far in fact no one has registered as far as I know. I imagine that it will take some serious arm-twisting to get hospitals to send patients - hospitals are very reluctant to spend money.

Maybe Accred Canada can offer organizations better engagement rankings for actually trying to develop capacity among patients regarding patient safety.

They are trying to stress the novelty of even offeering this training to patients. When I joined Patients For Patient Safety, training for patients in patient safety was the issue that made me join. I don't think I had any influence on this, but it is progress. I would like to see them succeed so they would roll it out across the country
