St Mike's/Li Ka Shing is preparing to draft and submit a proposal to lead a Knowledge Hub for the Dementia Community Investment, and we’re interested in engaging 2 to 3 caregivers of people living with dementia to be advisors on this. Below is some brief information on this opportunity. Please feel free to share with your network.

What are the objectives of the dementia community knowledge Hub?

Facilitate a community of practice to support community-based projects

Knowledge translation and dissemination to inform dementia policy and programs across Canada

Provide analytical support on the Dementia Community Investment priorities and directions

      What are the timelines?

If interested, please let us know by Sunday,

      September 8 th , 2019.

The proposal deadline is September 20th, so this will be a tight timeline. We would work together to ensure there is time for you to review the proposal and provide your feedback either through email or telephone correspondence prior to the September 20th deadline.

If the proposal is accepted, the project will begin in January 2020. The project would continue for 4 years or more. You would have the option to withdrawal from the project at any time.

What role would you play on this project?

We are looking to engage 2 to 3 caregivers for people living with dementia to be advisors on the proposal, and continue in this advisor role if the proposal is funded. Advisors will be asked to review the initial proposal and provide feedback based on their lived experience and insights. If the proposal is funded, we would work with advisors to clarify what role they would like to play in establishing the knowledge hub (e.g., reviewing documents, supporting dissemination practices, etc.)

      What compensation can be expected?

The rate of compensation for patient partners reflects choice, fairness, respect, responsiveness, representativeness, and transparency. We provide options for compensation (i.e., hourly rate, honoraria, in-kind payment, etc.) based on individual patient partner preferences and type of activity.

Compensation preferences will be discussed with partners during the onboarding process.

thanks for this posting. I am a member of the Canadian Committee to the International Standards Organization Committee on Ageing Societies and they are developing an international standard for dementia communities. I would be interested in providing links between these 2 related activities and will respond

TA thank you from the Research Group. You rock!

I got a lovely note from Melissa. See below

"I just wanted to say Thank-You for posting about the opportunity to partner on the dementia grant with the KT Program. We received a number of interested applicants for this, which was a very welcome surprise. We typically struggle a bit with recruitment, so it was amazing to see so many enthusiastic people interested in partnering on this. We actually recruited enough within a day or 2, and continued to receive more interest.

Just wanted to say thanks for your help!"
