John Sawdon is working with Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute to create a patient engagement webinar for low/medium income countries.

He is looking for real world examples that demonstrate the answers to the question "Why involve patients in research?" For example, he would be interested in a scenario whereby researchers were going to focus on one thing they thought was important to patients, but when patients were consulted it turned out to be something totally different they wanted, which influenced the researchers to adjust their focus.

Please send any brief stories you have of the benefits of involving patients in research directly to John at jsawdon@gmail.com.

I would like to share this on Twitter, and by e-mail to a few people (mostly researchers with patient partnering experience and also patient partners). I am not questioning the validity of this call, but I personally am fairly new to the research game, and do not know either the name John Sawdon or the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (although I am off to do a google search on that one). Can you share any information on either please. Just in case I get asked questions!
