Posting this for a fellow patient partner on the project (Michael Liddell) ( hopefully a future PAN member)
Have you ever been on an advisory board for a Community-Based Research Project? Did you ever participate in making decisions about research as a community member? If so we would like to hear from you. We invite you to take part in our research project “Exploring Advisory Board Members' Experiences of Community-Based Participatory Research.” We would like to hear your thoughts and learn from your experiences. We would like to pay you to take part in a semi-structured interview over the phone or by a video platform such as Zoom. If you are interested and/or want to learn more about this project, please contact Audrey Gillis at agiles@uottawa.ca or (613) 562-5800 ext. 2988 or Michael Liddell at michaelliddell1967@gmail.com www.TeamGilesResearch.com

      From the Principal Investigator:

My name is Audrey Giles, and I am a professor conducting research at the University of Ottawa. The purpose of this letter is to ask you to participate in my research project “Exploring Advisory Board Members' Experiences of Community-Based Participatory Research.” The objective of this research is to better understand the experiences of people who have participated in community-based participatory research as advisory board members (i.e., as community members who have been involved in making decisions about research). Topics discussed will relate to your thoughts about your involvement, relationships between researchers and advisory board members, and successes and challenges of your involvement.

This research will be conducted through semi-structured interviews that will be over the phone or video platform (e.g., Zoom) The inclusion criterion is that you have served on a community advisory board for a community-based research project. The interview will take approximately 45 to 90 minutes You do not have to answer any questions that you do not wish to. If you do choose to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time. If you withdraw, you will still receive an honorarium of $50 for your participation. Similarly, if you choose not to participate, this information will also be maintained in confidence.

I am available to answer any questions you have about the study. You may contact me at agiles@uottawa.ca.

If you would like to participate, please send me an email indicating your interest.

      Thank you for your consideration.

      Audrey R. Giles (Principal Investigator)
