We received a number of interested applicants for this, which was a very welcome surprise. We typically struggle a bit with recruitment, so it was amazing to see so many enthusiastic people interested in partnering on this. We actually recruited enough within a day or 2, and continued to receive more interest.

I might just try to get the standards from my hospital just to see what happens. I am on the Community Advisory Committee so will report back.

I might still do feedback on one more Kathy. It was an interesting process - just very time consuming to do right, and in fact I did not read every single word. It was still easy to find things to discuss in the Standard. Still I flagged by the middle and then picked and chose what I read after about page 30.

Thanks for the encouragement Diana. I was really surprised when I got to the end and found the eStore information. We are letting them know it's an issue and working on change. So we are being reasonable and what we want is also only fair.

I'm with you on the Geriatric side. That would be great. I asked my geriatrician friend in the hopes there was one we didn't know about and here's her answer:

"Unfortunately there isn't a similar meeting for geriatrics. The Canadian geriatrics society hasn't had a great track record in engaging patients and caregivers. My friends are helping to organize the next meeting in Calgary so I will find out if this is something they have prioritized."

Good idea, and a push doesn't hurt.

Wondering why there is a need to expense to caregivers, a $25.00 fee? Let us please remember caregivers of frail seniors who are on fixed incomes will also be paying their own transportation costs, meals & perhaps parking/accommodations, if coming from out of town.

Caregivers are significant "unpaid" stakeholders. How does this $25.00 fee benefit, demonstrate, translate into our health system being patient/caregiver centered? Just wondering?
