          Hello folks,

Getting together to meet during the conference is a great idea. Personally, the earlier the better so that we may want to collaborate on some of the discussions. For me, Sunday night is already previously committed to another outing, so Monday breakfast would be my preference. For those of you coming in from out of town, there is a ball game close to the hotel going on Sunday afternoon if you're looking for something to do. Shopping downtown is limited. The Forks is a potential place to spend some time on Sunday. The Human Rights Museum is also very good but comments from those who have been there say that a day is sometimes not long enough to take in all of the exhibits. I can also give suggestions for dinner locales; breakfast choices in the downtown area are more limiting, generally hotels are best offerings. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

            thanks Sandra,

I'll be arriving on Saturday at 17:15, and would love to have a recommendation for dinner. I don't eat red meat 🙂 mostly vegetarian, love Thai, and sushi. if anyone else is there on Saturday and would like to join me for dinner, that would be great

Monday breakfast is fine with me – how about at the Fairmont Hotel, which is where I'm staying ?

I've sent everyone an email as I'm finding this back and forth a bit cumbersome 🙂

                  Hi all,

Just got an email today from CMA and it looks as though they already set aside a networking breakfast for all patient and caregiver scholarship recipients for the Monday.

That's great! Maybe we all need to put a sticker of a certain colour or write in PAN on our nametag somewhere so we can find each other at that breakfast.

I am up for dinner Sunday with whoever is free!

Hi Diana, plus Kerri, Annette and all the other PAN members who attended the CMA Summit,

I’d also love to hear about what you found to be highlights of your experience! Any chance you can post your impressions here for PAN members to share? More than 280 characters!

CMA certainly invested literally and figuratively in the patient voice and perspective. I’m truly interested in how you feel about your time with these physician leaders and what you are bringing away.

Thanks for attending —and thanks for sharing!!

Don’t forget to fill out a PAN conference evaluation: see the link on the PAN website‘s home page. It’s anonymous and doesn’t identify the CMA by name, either. But the contribution of your input will mean better conferences from well-informed organizers.

Best wishes for a happy return home!

                        Cheers, Carolyn

Thanks Diana and Carolyn, I intend to write a blog post, but I'm playing a bit of catch-up at the moment. In the meantime, here's a blog post written by Claire Snyman of Two Steps; she says:

"I just wrote a blog to try and summarize the key messages from the #summit in my mind - you can read it here if you want to: http://twosteps.ca/2018/08/26/cma-health-summit-2018/"

Also, I had this feedback in an email from Audrey Grandmaison (she asked me to make it clear that it was not "official" feedback, but rather what she heard in casual conversations):

"I’ve heard nothing but great feedback from care providers about the patient program. The group impressed many with your knowledge, depth of conversation, willingness to participate and openness to collaborate."

She also said that while she has to wait to see what the official feedback and outcomes might be, she felt that the CMA and its members might be open to more participation by patients in the future.

I thought that was pretty good news!

                          Susan

                                Hi all;

From what I've read on PAN, the CMA participation by PAN members/other attendees was a very positive experience. Encouraging and motivational to read.

For those not attending this conference, what learning(s) did you take away that would be helpful to us, that we can begin to apply when we interact with our own physicians' as patients or, caregivers of patients?

Would appreciate hearing about "application" of your lessons learned.

                                Many thanks,

                                Denyse

Wonderful news, Susan! Just what we'd like, isn't it: CMA's first foray packed with terrific ambassadors like you, making sure this is a good experience all round. I'm delighted!

I'll look forward to learning more as you and the others recover. Don't forget to complete PAN's conference survey on website homepage. Best wishes.

                                  Thanks, Carolyn

                                    Hi Denyse and everyone,

I still intend to write a blog post, but unfortunately, I'm also still playing catch-up. In the meantime, here's something from the CMA's latest newsletter:

                                    https://cmahealthsummit.ca/2018/08/27/25-patients-welcomed-at-first-ever-health-summit/

While the the CMA's AGM took place after we were gone, and we were not present for the new president's inaugural address, I thought it would be worth sharing:

                                    Thanks,
